care tips & faqs

  • All tableware - except anything with a metal accent (painted-on or handle) or wood handle - is top-shelf dishwasher and microwave safe.

Ceramics are delicate! Especially if yours has a wire or wooden handle. These handles are decorative (and experiments!). Use at your own risk.

Some tips on extending your new pot's life:

Hand-washing: Gentle hand-washing is best for pottery longevity, but that may not always be practical.

Dishwashing: If you use a dishwasher, be especially mindful loading your mug into the dishwasher to avoid chipping the rim. While mugs are dishwasher safe, they can get knocked around a bit in there.

Microwaving: If you have a microwaveable piece, don’t let the exposed clay foot sit in water too long. Prolonged soaking could allow some water to seep in. If microwaved with water in the clay body, there is a risk that the mug could crack.

Thermal shock: If a mug is really cold and you add boiling water to it, there is a risk that it could crack from thermal shock. To avoid this, if your mug is feeling especially cold, add some warm water from the faucet and let it sit for a minute before adding boiling water.
